A former assistant band director with the Harrison School District was sentenced to 15 years in prison for a criminal sexual offense against students who were minors.

Kyle Lee Smith, 29, was sentenced to 180 months for one count each of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity and coercion and enticement of a minor.

According to court records, Harrison PD got a report of a teacher having a sexual relationship with a student. Police interviewed the student who said Smith invited her to his Missouri home to have sex with her.

Police determined Smith was involved with a second student who provided texts which police said were “overly sexual” in nature. Homeland Security obtained Snapchats and found hundreds of messages and images sent between Smith and the victims.

Smith was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release.
