There are so many things that can make your head ache, deadlines, arguments, getting stuck in traffic, fortunately there are some simple ways to ease the discomfort.
Ice it. Ice packs are a great relief for muscle soreness and can work well for migraines too. A cold compression can help reduce the throbbing or piercing pain.
Have some caffeine. Drinking a cup of coffee can help provide mild relief, but be careful not to overdo it. Caffeine withdrawals can sometimes lead to more headaches.
Foods high in magnesium. Studies have shown whole grains and dark green veggies are best used to prevent migraines rather than relieving them.
Vitamin B2. Seafood, chicken and certain dairy products like milk and cheese all have vitamin B2, and like magnesium, are great at keeping migraines from coming back.
Get some sleep. Aim for 7 to 8 hours each night, anything more or less can trigger migraines.
