First, clean your air conditioner filters. Do this at least once every three months. Filters typically costs less than $10.
Second, raise your thermostat a tad. You can trim your AC bill by 3% for every degree you raise the temperature.
Third, use fans. Especially a ceiling fan, can circulate cool air throughout your home. Be sure the fan turns counter clockwise to maximize airflow.
Fourth, don’t blast AC in empty rooms. Be sure to close vents in unoccupied rooms, shut closet doors, and keep window units off when you’re not home.
And our final tip. Organize rooms strategically. Blocking AC vents with furniture or curtains can limit air circulation.
