BENTONVILLE, Ark. (Fox 24) — Election Day is quickly approaching, and there’s a lot of names you may be seeing and hearing around town. As Your Local Election Headquarters, we want to help you get to know your candidates.
In one of the more closely watched contests, there are five candidates vying to become the next Bentonville Mayor.
Over the next few days, our team will profile each one in our newscasts. Fox 24’s Alex Caprariello introduces you to one of your candidates — Stephanie Orman.
“We knew the type of community that was here and heard about the things on the rise, so I think in the last ten to fifteen years, we’ve seen an amazing place to grow,” said Stephanie Orman, a Bentonville Mayoral Candidate.
Stephanie Orman is busy in Bentonville.
She’s the president of a non-profit. She’s part of the PTO at her children’s school. She’s on the POA. All while balancing her actual job at McLarty Daniel.
“I like to do things, collaborate and work on projects, and that’s where I find satisfaction and that’s what I want to do,” Orman said.
On top of all that, she’s got her eyes on the future for her city.
“There’s a lot of passion to get things done and there’s a lot of entrepreneurship,” Orman said.
Orman says her plans include addressing infrastructure and the drainage system. She also wants to start up a city scorecard and establish an app for people to communicate with their local government.
“I talk a lot to people about being accessible, accountable and strong leadership,” Orman said.
But most important to her is making sure the voters know exactly what they are getting.
“I would just like to encourage people to be doing their research on who they are voting for and make sure it’s the right candidate for them,” Orman said.
Orman says her number one platform is safety. She wants to make sure as the city grows, the police and fire departments are better equipped to handle the influx of people and keep Bentonville’s crime rate low.
