Help A Child in Need this Holiday Season

ROGERS, Ark. (KFTA) — This holiday season, you can help impact the life of a child in a very simple way.

Operation Christmas Child has helped over 140 million children in more than 100 countries since 1993. The project encourages people to assemble shoe boxes filled with toys and other items that will be sent off to kids of different ages. A $9 donation is also accepted, which will go toward shipping the items to different locations all over the world.

Logistics operator, Ginny Harper, said donating is a good way to start your holiday festivities.

“It’s just a simple way, without leaving your home, that you can really impact a child’s life,” Harper said. “You can share the love of God with them, you can encourage them. Bring them joy and hope in a time in their life where they might not experience much of that. “

Lori Robertson, central drop-off leader in northwest Arkansas said your gift can actually change lives, no matter how small.

“There was this young man who had been in Africa,” Robertson said. “And when he received his box, he was just overjoyed because he received a pencil. And that pencil allowed him to go to school because without it, he had to stay home.”

National Drop-Off week is November 12-19. To find out where you can drop off the shoe boxes, click here. To see a list of acceptable and unacceptable items, click here.
