A writer who celebrates the works of African American inventors inspired students in Rogers Friday.

Tillery Elementary welcomed author Patrice McLauren to share her book “Have You Thanked an Inventor Today?”

McLauren’s book focuses on African Americans whose inventions have helped propel America forward.

“So as technology grows and develops, we need to continue to be innovative. We need to be able to move along with that. I think being an inventor is really important,” McLaurin said.

McLaurin was at the school all day to meet with kids in every class.
