Highfill Holds Special Election to Reallocate Funds for Water Lines

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – Highfill is holding a special election to decide whether voters want to continue the city’s one-percent sales tax to help refinance more than $5 million in bonds.

If voters approve the tax, officials said it will save the city roughly $500,000 over 43 years.
The second measure on the ballot is to reallocate $1.5 million to the water department to install water lines on the east side of the airport.

Water Department Manager James Wiand wants to reiterate this tax is not a new tax, but a continuation that will allow them to put funds in other areas of need for the city.
