Huntsville officials pursue splash pad

Kids in Huntsville could have a new place to cool off during the hot summer months.

Right now city leaders are in the process of requesting grant money to fund the 1,600 square foot splash pad.

Huntsville Mayor Darrell Trahan said it’s one of the top things kids in the community request.

“I did ‘Lunch with a Mayor’ at the elementary school, and I asked the kids what do you want? Number one was Taco Bell, it’s coming. Number two was [a] Splash Pad,” Trahan said.

The City of Huntsville will find out if it’s approved for phase one of the grant process in August.
