Investigation Finds Springdale Officer Justified in Fatal Shooting

SPRINGDALE, Ark. (KFTA) — An investigation into a Springdale officer-involved shooting has found that the officer was justified when he fatally shot a suspect.

Officer Trevor Bowen was cleared in the investigation that was launched after Bowen fatally shot 30-year-old Iman Joseph Buford.

“Arkansas State Police has completed its investigation and the Washington County Prosecutor has determined that the officer was justified in the shooting from July. The internal investigation is complete and has been turned over to the Chief of police. The officer is back at work,” Lt. Jeff Taylor with Springdale police said.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a home on Sonora Acres Road in Springdale at around 11:15 p.m. Thursday, July 26. The Sheriff’s Office called Springdale police for assistance.

When law enforcement arrived on scene, deputies said they were approached by a man with a gun.

The man refused to put down the gun, and that’s when he was shot, deputies said in July.

Bowen was placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into the shooting.

Bowen has worked for the Police Department for 3 and a half years. Buford had no prior arrests.
