Diamond Hogs took home the first win of the season with a 15-to-7 win over the Eastern Illinois Panthers Saturday.
The rain kept Hog fans away Friday, and Saturday’s weather wasn’t exactly ideal, but after waiting almost a year, nothing was going to keep these Razorbacks away any longer.
Fans started getting in line as early as 7:30 a.m. for a noon first pitch. The energy and excitement was nothing short of electric at Baum-Walker.
A lot of fans said it was like Christmas morning and being reunited with family seeing their favorite diamond hogs again, like Heston Kjerstad and Casey Martin, and welcoming newbies like Connor Noland.
The Razorbacks took on a double header Saturday and Hog fans are now ready for more Arkansas baseball.
“We’re out for blood this year, out for some revenge and ready to have a good time,” said Chris Hovis, a Razorback fan.
“We want to see players that give the effort that gets you to a win, and that’s what these guys do and we enjoy seeing that. Razorback fans always appreciate a win and that’s what we got here,” said Razorback fan, Bobby “Hognoxious” Smittle.
The Hogs will wrap up the first home series of the season against Eastern Illinois Sunday, February 17, at 1 p.m.
