FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA) – Rookies from law enforcement agencies across Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley are going through 13 weeks of basic training before entering the police force.

One of Thursday’s lessons, speaking with the media.

The cadets were put on the hot seat  in a mock triple homicide scenario to learn about speaking with the press when the stakes are high.

Gene Page, spokesperson for the Bentonville Police Department, said these lessons will help new officers get the right foundation to jump-start their careers.
