Fayetteville is in the spotlight tonight as True Detective’s highly anticipated season three kicks off in just a few hours.
Right now locals are popping their popcorn and getting ready to see their city on the big screen.
Show creator and writer Nic Pizzolatto, a University of Arkansas Graduate, said he had Arkansas in mind when he wrote this season and said it was necessary to shoot it here.
You may see some familiar faces in the show, many Northwest Arkansans had the chance to star as extras and are taking to social media buzzing about where you can spot them.
We caught up with one of the extras Matt House who said it was a unique experience being a part of a major project that is putting the natural state on the map.
“It seems like Fayettevile doesn’t have much recognition, there’s not much here but as of lately, a lot of people a lot of production a lot of things like this coming to our area. It’s really cool to see the whole process of expansion happen here in town,” said True Detective Extra, Matt House.
House adds being a part of the filming process was an awesome opportunity for those outside of the entertainment industry to see what exactly goes into filming.
The scene he was in took 14 hours to complete.
True Detective season three premieres at 8 pm.
