During the winter, many will go without a warm place to sleep and have to rely on things like blankets and coats.
One local group came together Saturday morning to provide some people in need with an extra layer of love.
We met up with members of the Democratic Socialists Of America who put together their own warm clothing swap.
Locals were invited to the Genesis Church to grab any new clothing they needed from winter coats to shoes and socks.
Members of the DSA said taking care of locals during the holiday weekend is important to stop the homeless crisis in the area.
“Nobody thinks to have these drives right around Christmas. We just want to return dignity back to these people and we want them to pick out what their own things and we want to give them nice things,” said DSA Organizer, Blanca Estevez.
During the event the DSA also gathered donations for The Little Free Pantry to help make sure no one else goes hungry for the holidays.
