Fathers and daughters have the chance to participate in what’s sure to be a magical night in the River Valley.
The Van Buren School District will host the third annual Night at the Ball Father-Daughter Dance on Monday, February 11.
The fundraiser benefits the district’s IMPACT Meals program, which started in 2016 as a way to feed kids over holidays and extended breaks. Now, it provides food to families all year long.
“By doing that, we’re hoping to set them up for success,” said Van Buren School District Communication Coordinator, Brittany Ransom. “If kids come hungry, they’re not as likely to do well in class and so we know by providing food, for them, it kind of takes the burden off the parents. and we just hope to get them ready for a good school day.”
Ball guests will get the royal treatment which includes a red carpet, tiaras and a lot of food. The event has gotten popular over the past three years.
“Some of them come in their Sunday best and some really come even fancier than that,” Ransom said. “It’s just whatever that they choose. Some are not as into the princess thing but they want to come with their date.”
A Night at the Ball takes place Monday, February 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Van Buren High School. Any girl from kindergarten to fifth grade is welcomed. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or here.
