(via KARK) – A Jonesboro man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole after he was accused of kidnapping a 90-year-old woman.

Richard Jordan Tarver was accused of the murder and kidnapping of 90-year-old Lavinda Counce of Bay.

According to officials, Tarver walked into Counce’s home, put her in the trunk of her car and drove around looking for a place to shoot her.

A press release states that investigators questioned Tarver after his July 2015 arrest, and he said he shot Counce because he wanted to.

The releases says that Tarver said he wanted to see what it was like to shoot somebody.

Tarver said that he had been watching “The Walking Dead” television series and that an old person was the closest to a zombie.

Officials stated that when investigators asked Tarver if he felt any remorse for shooting Counce in the back of the head and dumping her body in a cornfield, Tarver replied, “No, I don’t have it.”

After a two-week jury trial, the jury sentenced him to three life sentences and 22 years for the crimes of Capital Murder, Kidnapping, Aggravated Residential Burglary, Abuse of a Corpse, Theft of Property and Possession of Defaced Fireman.
