Medical Marijuana Patient Waits for Dispensary Approval

FOX24

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KFTA)– Medical marijuana dispensaries are eagerly waiting for the announcement of approval from the Medical Marijuana Commission.

To date, the Arkansas Department of Health reports over 6,500 approved medical marijuana cards.

One Fort Smith resident received his letter of approval just yesterday.

Although his card won’t be printed until a month before Arkansas Dispensaries open, he’s encouraged by receiving his new prescription.

Wanting to keep his identity private, this Arkansan says after a traumatic experience when he was younger, he’s actively struggled with PTSD.

With medical marijuana so close in his grasp, he’s one step closer to paving the road to recovery.

He said, “It would just make a big difference in my life because I can finally find something that doesn’t have adverse effects on me like other medications have.”

The Medical Marijuana Commission will announce which applicants will get a dispensary license next week.
