Miles that Matter: Tyson Counts Steps for Hunger Relief

This summer, folks are pounding the pavement and logging miles for a good cause.

Team members with Tyson Foods are working to draw attention to hunger in Northwest Arkansas with the “Miles that Matter” initiative. For every mile these employees complete, Tyson will donate one pound of protein, up to 50,000 pounds, to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank.

“We’re just super excited about the opportunity to really give back and impact hunger relief in Northwest Arkansas in a positive way,” said Tyson Foods Public Relations Manager, Derek Burleson.

According to Tyson, last fall, Tyson Foods renewed its commitment to hunger relief by pledging to donate $50 million in cash and product donations over the next five years. All the protein donated as a result of Miles that Matter, will help it each that goal.

Team leaders will organize meet ups during the summer months for walkers, runners and cyclists to work together to log these important miles.
