Movers & Shakers – Molly Rawn, Experience Fayetteville

Northwest Arkansas is home to a group of people, who shape the culture and landscape of our area. We profile an individual, who’s ideas and creativity, is helping make Fayetteville a one of a kind experience.

With great power, comes an even greater responsiblity. For Molly Rawn, her Arkansas roots run deep. “I’m a life-long Arkansan and I love this state. I’ve spent time liveing in multiple parts of the state.” says Rawn.

A University of Arkansas grad in 2008, Rawn worked as a fundraiser for several local organizations. In 2013, she started a new job for a group who had a vision. By the end, rawn had a hand in helping jumpstarting that vision, which is now a regional staple. Rawn says, “It puts a lump in my throat a little bit.”

Working as a Director of Development, Rawn was an important figure in fundraising for the Scott Family Amazeum, leading to its grand opening in July of 2015. “I can remember the night before we opened to the public at the Amazeum and being unable to sleep and wondering is anybody going to show up. Are people going to like it? Who’s going to come?” says Rawn. In April, the Amazeum celebrated its one millionth guest. “Getting to be a part of something rare like that, it’s such a rare opportunity. And it’s one that I treasure. It’s one of my favorite things that I’ve ever done.”

That success, led Rawn on a different career path. “It was a defining moment for me. I knew it was going to challenge my skill set.”

In August 2016, Rawn was named Executive Director of ‘Experience Fayetteville.’ A new role, that would expand her horizons and creativity. “I’m certainly not afraid of risk. I like to move forward and try new things. I think for any leader to be effective, you can’t be afraid to fail. You have to fail fast and pick yourself up and move on.”  says Rawn.

Rawn is aware of the responsiblity that she has in making Fayetteville, an even more desirable area to live and visit. But to her, it’s all about keeping an open mind to new ideas and possiblities. “I think that’s I’m passionate making an impact and I think I’m passionate about making things better.”
