Murder Accomplice Trial Begins

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — A jury has been seated and open arguments started in the trial of a man charged with accomplice to capital murder.

Mark Chumley, 48, is accused of helping hold a woman captive in her house and beating her for hours.

The state is seeking the death penalty.

The victim’s husband already pleaded guilty to the same charge  and was sentenced to 37 years in prison.

The three other defendants are being held in the Washington County Detention Center.
