A local company has stepped in to help with food insecurity.
Global Agribusiness Ventures hosted officials from the Nigerian government Tuesday.
They gathered at the University of Arkansas to discuss a project that would develop a sustainable and integrated agricultural development program, which includes crops, livestock systems and processing for their country.
John Rhodes, chief operating officer of Global Agribusiness Ventures, said the company was created earlier this year to help increase the level of food security in developing nations.
“We’re working with them to improve their agriculture and infrastructure in the nation, particularly in the Bauchi state to help feed a nation because Nigeria overall is a net importer of food stops, and we are looking over the next several years to help them be more of a exporter,” said John Rhodes, chief operating officer for Global Agribusiness Ventures.
Rhodes also said this will help Arkansas farmers export their products more easily into other countries to help them become more sustainable.
