The City of Rogers issued a response after the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct ordered former city attorney Ben Lipscomb to pay a fine for misconduct while in office.
The City issued the following statement:
“Over a year ago, the City of Rogers resolved litigation filed in federal court with Mr. Ben Lipscomb, its former City Attorney. That resolution settled all issues with Mr. Lipscomb and the City of Rogers considers the matter as concluded.
It has come to our attention that the Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct recently issued a Consent Findings & Order involving Mr. Lipscomb. The City of Rogers was not a party to the proceeding before the Committee of Professional Conduct and therefore does not have any comment or reaction.”
Lipscomb lied about his address to hold on to his position for three years. He received about half-a-million dollars in salary and benefits while he lived outside city limits. Lipscomb was also accused of trading sex and drugs for services and harassing city employees.
