NWA high schoolers get U of A education experience

FOX24

Local students are getting a glimpse of the college experience this week.

The University of Arkansas is hosting a steam camp on campus for 50 9th through 12th grade Talent Search students.

They had the opportunity to interact with professors from multiple departments.

Talent Search helps students overcome barriers to higher education by providing services that allow students to successfully enter and graduate from college.

“I went to the poultry science building, which we are in now, and I got to do an experiment with my DNA and I actually got to really see what college life could be like,” said Hannah King, a Green Forest High School student. “And it was a great experience, and I really wasn’t expecting that. I’ve just been so blessed already and it’s just so amazing. I love this program.”

Talent Search is funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

The program provides a full spectrum of services to students from disadvantaged backgrounds that have the potential to succeed in higher education.
