Officer Suffers Broken Arm During Theft Arrest


A police officer breaks his arm while trying to restrain a suspect on suspicion of theft Thursday, March 21, according to a Bentonville police press release.

Police responded to a call at 11:30 p.m. about a suspicious person opening car doors and looking into windows at the Double Tree Suites at 301 SE Walton Blvd.  

The suspect was seen in a red car, according to police.

Officers got to the area and found the vehicle being driven by Kimberly R. Miller, 38, of Jay, Oklahoma, and a passenger Lance E. Hardman, 38, of Yellville, Arkansas.  

Officers found that Hardman was wanted on a felony warrant; he took off running, but officers caught up with him after a foot chase.  

Hardman resisted the officer, and during the process, the officer suffered a broken arm.

Officers found Miller and Hardman in possession of thousands of dollars of stolen checks, drugs and electronics, according to police.

Miller was arrested for:

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Failure to appear, Siloam Springs and Gentry (2X) (M)
  • Theft by receiving (F)

Hardman was arrested for:

  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Fleeing (F) 
  • Resisting Arrest (M)
  • Failure to appear, Siloam Springs (M)
  • Parole violation (F) 
  • Theft by receiving (F)
  • Second-degree battery (F) 

Miller and Hardman are both in the Benton County Detention Center held on no bond. 

They both have court dates beginning on April 29, 2019.
