Nonprofit organizations across Northwest Arkansas are hoping to raise money on Thursday through an online fundraiser.
NWA Gives is a one-day online fundraiser that seeks to benefit more than 100 local nonprofits.
NWA Gives was inspired by Arkansas gives a similar online fundraising event that has taken place for the last three years.
In 2016, Arkansas gives raised more than 3-million dollars for nonprofits across the state.
When organizers decided not to host the event again this year Freedom 5:one Ministries in Fayetteville decided to put on a regional version to benefit local non-profits.
Their goal is to raise $500,000 in just one day.
NWA Gives Co-Chairman Chris Haas hopes the community will show their support for these charitable groups.
“We want to see generosity all across Northwest Arkansas, there’s so many great things that are being done and you know it takes resources to run these nonprofits and to do the ministry that’s being done and serving in the community,” Haas said.
All of the money raised goes directly to the nonprofits.
The fundraiser will go from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Thursday
Haas says that although the official fundraiser ends at 8 p.m. People can still give after that deadline.
