Over 12,000 people without power as storms roll through Northwest Arkansas

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS (KFTA) — Over 12,000 people are without power in Arkansas as storms rolled through the region, according to a Carroll Electric Cooperative outage map.

A wide storm path entered the service area in the Siloam Springs area and headed northeast.  Most of the southern 1/3 of Benton County has concentrated outages.

There are 12,000 accounts that remain without power in Benton County as of 7:15 a.m.

There are many utility poles that are broken and several (at least six) double-circuit poles that were damaged.  Prairie Creek area was hit very hard.  The electric company had to cut their way into the substation to be able to assess damages.

Carroll Electric has enacted its Emergency Response Plan and is requesting mutual aid from other surrounding electric cooperatives.

According to Carroll Electric, it is going to take several days to fully restore power to all our members.  Members should take the necessary steps to be prepared to be without power for multiple days.
