Humane Society of the Ozarks Director of Programs Sally Williams talks about this week’s Pet of the Week.
“This is Max,” said Williams. “Max is about four-years-old and he’s a Rat Terrier, probably, Chihuahua mix. He is just a little bit nervous right now.
“We don’t know a whole lot about his background, other than he’s been abandoned several different times with various people — which has left him a little bit skittish with people. But he really likes people and he warms up to you real, real quick and he’s just really chill and relaxed then.
“He follows you wherever you go, lays in the bed. He does fine with cats. He basically ignores them after kind of looking at them and saying ‘oh there’s a cat here.’
“But he’s not so sure about other dogs. He is a little bit leery of other dogs, so he barks at them.
“His ideal home would be with somebody that doesn’t have other dogs, but cats would be fine; somebody that maybe could be home quite a bit would be perfect for him. I can kind of see him being the perfect dog for an older person that wants a good companion because he’s just really content to sleep in his little bed by my desk when I’m here at the office.”
