Razorbacks will being going against Alabama in more than just football on Saturday.
Hogs fans are asked to help the University of Arkansas beat Bama in the Environmental Protection Agency’s Game Day Challenge at Donald W. Reynolds Stadium.
The Game Day Recycling Challenge is a nationwide campaign among universities to reduce and recycle the waste generated at home football games. In 2015, 99 schools participated to recycle 2.1 million pounds of bottles, cans, paper and cardboard. They composted over 457,000 pounds of food organics from the game and tailgating areas as well.
Blue recycling bags will be distributed to tailgaters and fans are encouraged to throw their recyclables in the bags, as well as recyclable bins in the stadium.
The goal is to be a 90 percent diversion rate and rank in the top five of the competition. Arkansas was ranked 10th in the competition last year.
