Search and Rescue Team Trains at Fire Training Center

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KFTA) — The Northwest Arkansas Urban Search and Rescue Team spent the day at the Fayetteville Fire Training Center building shores.

Shores are used to make sure the structure that firefighters are about to go into is safe and will not collapse.

The team consists of firefighters from all around Northwest Arkansas, including Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville.

“Obviously this isn’t something you’re going to use everyday throughout your firefighting career, but that’s why we have them come out here to practice these maneuvers and techniques,” said Fayetteville Fire Department Battalion Chief Willie Watts.

Watts went on to say that the team is funded by the Department of Homeland Security and there are more than 200 certified team members around the state.
