Six to Enter Arkansas Black Hall of Fame

(News Release) On Tuesday, September 6th at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation announced the six individuals who will enter the Hall of Fame at its 24th annual induction ceremony. The ceremony will take place Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Statehouse Convention Center’s Wally Allen Ballroom in downtown Little Rock.

2016 inductees include:
·       June Carter-Perry of Texarkana— Former U.S. Ambassador to Lesotho and Sierra Leone
·       Mifflin Wistar Gibbs of Little Rock (posthumous)—First elected African American municipal judge in the United States
·       Cynthia Scott of El Dorado—Renowned jazz soloist
·       Gregory A. Davis, Sr. of Fort Smith—CEO, Davis Broadcasting, Inc.
·       Richard L. Mays, Sr. of Little Rock—Distinguished attorney and former legislator and justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court
·       The Hall Family of Little Rock—Long-standing entrepreneurs/grocers

“These individuals represent the best of what the state of Arkansas has to offer. They have excelled in business, music, law, media and diplomacy. The Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation is pleased to again this year present a group of noteworthy people who prove that an humble start does not have to determine how you finish,” said Charles Stewart, Chairman of the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation.

The Arkansas Black Hall of Fame Foundation uses funds generated from the induction ceremony to benefit organizations throughout Arkansas that serve African American communities in the following areas: youth development, health and wellness, education and business/economic development.
