Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent, it’s the 12 actions every Boy Scout strives to uphold.
A Springdale Boy Scout is doing his best to deliver them all with his Eagle Scout project.
Hogan Maestri is a Boy Scout, for now but he’s working towards becoming an Eagle Scout.
Maestri said, “Well I wanted to do something that would mean a lot to the community and something that would last.”
In order to earn the organizations highest honor, he has to complete a service project for his community.
“I’m looking to put a monument for all the Springdale decedents who were killed in combat from World War I up to now,” Maestri added.
When the project is complete people walking in the downtown area will be able to see it and remember the lives lost.
Maestri said “It seems like something we should have. You should honor those who have died for us.”
The city said the memorial will be an important addition to the downtown area.
Melissa Reeves with the City of Springdale said, “Well this is a very worth while project. We don’t currently have anything like this in Springdale and it’s honoring Springdale residents who have made the ultimate sacrifice so we really think that this is a great project.”
