Springdale High School Granted Appeal After Basketball Players Were Suspended

An on-court fight breaks out during a Springdale and Fayetteville High School basketball game leaving several players suspended.

The Arkansas Activities Association wanted to suspend seven additional Springdale players.

Springdale Schools says those seven athletes didn’t leave the bench during this fight.

Springdale’s appeal was granted Tuesday afternoon and the seven players will take the court in their basketball game Tuesday night against Bentonville.

The fight began in the last 12 seconds of Friday’s game.

In the video, you can see the two players falling to the floor with just seconds left in the game.

“Those seven stayed in the bench area, but the officials didn’t see that so they suspended all of them,” Communications Director for Springdale Public Schools Rick Schaeffer said. “Yesterday was President’s Day so today they finally decided to accept the appeal.”

Meanwhile, the Fayetteville School District says it’s talking with all parties involved but wasn’t able to disclose student discipline measures.
