A local Springdale student is making a large impact in her community, and even catching the eyes of some in our nation’s capital.
Anna Claire Hay, 15, is a sophomore at Shiloh Christian School, and was presented the Prudential Spirit of Community Award.
The honor is the nation’s largest youth volunteer awards program honoring students in 5th through 12th grades.
Hays started Teens with Integrity, a campaign to help young people in the Natural State find volunteer opportunities they are passionate about.
She estimates that over the years she’s helped 8,000 students find meaningful ways to help others.
“That is one of the most important life lessons that my mom has taught me,” Hay said. “My whole entire life, she has said, ‘Put God first, others second and myself last.’ And this is truly an example of how I’m doing that and how I’m living out what she has taught me.”
Hay’s will be traveling to Washington, D.C. in early May on an all-expense-paid trip to represent Arkansas in hopes of becoming one of ten national honorees.
