#SummerInNWA: Emergency Responders

The end of May means it’s time for school to come to an end and summer camps begin.  While some already have their summer plans solidified, others still look for the perfect activity.  This week we’re taking a look at some fun summer options for kids.

It’s hard to find a summer camp perfect for a child, but it can sometimes be even more difficult with teenagers. Camp Rescue, hosted by the Washington County Fire Marshal, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and Central EMS, is for students ages 15-18. The week-long program provides a lot of fun, while teaching life lessons.

During the week, activities focus on team building exercises, giving students the unique opportunity to take a look into the emergency services career fields. With kids those ages getting ready to look at what they want to do for a career, it’s a fun opportunity to see if they like this one.
While there’ll be plenty of fun activities, the camp is also educational. Instructors teach about topics from emergency dispatching to fire safety. Students have the opportunity to become CPR certified, learn basic first aid, and participate in Emergency Services Expo Day.
