HIGHFILL, Ark. (KFTA) — A meeting held Friday at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport discusses progress on a road leading to XNA.

The Access Road Task Force discussed ways of finishing the connection from the airport to Highway 612.

Options include improving existing state roads or creating an entirely new route.

Task Force Chairman Mike Johnson said it could help more than just the airport itself.

“We’re also looking in and around the airport properties, and besides just getting to us, this might help a little bit on our neighbors around the perimeter of the airport as well, and perhaps future economic development to some degree,” Johnson said.

This task force has been working on plans since the airport was built 20 years ago.

No timetable has been set for finishing the road.
