All hands are on deck as a sacred memorial is set up in Northwest Arkansas.

The Wall That Heals, a two-thirds scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, traveled from Jane, Mo., to Crystal Bridges in Bentonville with an escort of emergency vehicles, motorcycles and sponsor trucks.

The replica honors the lives of more than 3 million Americans who served in the Vietnam War.

With a set up time of around five to six hours, volunteers came from across the area to help.

The executive director of Downtown Bentonville said it can be hard for families to travel to the east coast to see the memorials, so its important to bring one of those monuments here.

“A lot of people don’t really understand the impact of what different wars have on our families so to be able to come out here and see the names of all the soldiers that gave their lives for our freedom,” said Andrew Heath, executive director of Downtown Bentonville, Inc. “I think it’s going to be a very moving experience.”

Heath said the wall is available for viewing 24 hours a day starting Wednesday night at midnight and all the way through Monday at 1 p.m.
