The e.coli outbreaks took a huge chunk out of Chipotle’s business. Chipotle’s profits dropped 82%, comparing this summer to last summer. The e.coli outbreaks that plagued Chipotle restaurants started last July. By the end of the outbreaks in January, restaurants in dozens of states had been affected. Chipotle made moves to stress food safety to employees, but the company hasn’t recovered as much as investors had hoped.
The NBA tried to get North Carolina to change the law. Now, the league says it will move next year’s all star basketball game somewhere else. The NBA planned to hold its 2017 all star game in Charlotte. That is, until North Carolina passed its controversial bathroom law, which requires people to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender at birth. It’s widely seen as discrimination aimed at the transgender community. The league says charlotte could potentially host the all star game in 2019, but only if changes are made.
Fox News chief Roger Ailes is being forced out of the network he helped create. Ailes’ resignation comes two weeks after former Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson accused him of sexual harassment. Those accusations led to an internal investigation and signs of Ailes imminent departure. Carlson’s lawyers said they have received sexual harassment allegations against Ailes from more than 20 women. Ailes and his attorneys have repeatedly denied the charges. But after being briefed on the initial findings from the investigation, 21st Century Fox owners Rupert Murdoch and his sons decided that Ailes must leave. Murdoch will now be acting CEO of Fox News for now.
