University of Arkansas Chancellor Joseph Steinmetz said he doesn’t believe the law needs to be changed regarding guns on campus.
On Monday, Rep. Charlie Collins filed a bill the would allow guns on campus.
In a statement, Chancellor Steinmetz said, “The University of Arkansas agrees with the Governor’s position that the current law allowing local boards of trustees to disallow the carrying of guns on campus is working and doesn’t need to be changed.”
Steinmetz went on the say law enforcement officers don’t think campus would be safer if guns were allowed and that there are concerns with increasing the number of armed individuals on campus.
