The University of Arkansas Police Department says it will begin increasing its presence throughout campus.
On Saturday, university officials said they received calls and were made aware of social media exchanges in connection to “suspicious” activity on and near the campus.
Capt. Gary Crain with the UAPD said they received calls from people who were anxious from activity they read on Facebook. However, the department did not receive any specific calls from victims reporting criminal activity, which is why the police department cannot investigate.
He said the goal now, with the increased police presence, is to make everyone feel safe and discourage criminal activity from happening.
If anyone witnesses “suspicious” activity on campus, call 911. To report an incident after it occurred, call or text the police department at 479-575-2222.
