The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) says a sand dredge was working on the Arkansas River when it collided with the bridge in Barling.
The SCSO’s Capt. Phillip Pevehouse says all lanes have been closed as a precaution until bridge inspectors can come from Little Rock and determine if the bridge is safe for traffic.
Pevehouse said the bridge will likely be shut down for several hours.
The iDriveArkansas website shows the bridge between Van Buren and Barling was closed shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday.
