Approximately 155,000 pounds of Siluriformes fish items — specifically Yellow Walking Fish — were recalled by importer Maxfield Seafood, from City of Industry, California.
The items were exported from Vietnam without proper inspection into the United States, according to a USDA release.
The products were produced at a Vietnamese establishment that did not have permission to export Siluriformes fish.
The frozen items were imported from March 2018 through January 2019. The products have a two-year shelf life.
The problem was discovered on May 22, 2019, through Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) surveillance of imported products
The items were shipped nationally to retail locations.
