Local candidates squared off in Fayetteville Tuesday night by taking part in a candidate forum.
Voters heard from those running for various offices in Washington County at a public forum. Those in attendance at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Presbyterian Church were able to learn more about the candidates and what they stand for.
The event was organized by the Northwest Arkansas Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the American Association of University Women Fayetteville Branch. We spoke with three of the Fayetteville mayoral candidates about the importance of the forum — just before they addressed the crowd.
“We need to get everybody in the community involved, not just a few people” Fayetteville Mayoral Candidate Ron Baucom said.” We need to get everyone involved so we can benefit all the citizens of our fine city.”
“Forums are good,” said Fayetteville Mayoral Candidate Tom Terminella. “This is the first of several that we have planned and I’m into it. I look forward to addressing the folks here tonight.”
“Forums like this is [where] we get the word out,” Fayetteville Mayor Lioneld Jordan explained. “Because, as I’ve said from the very beginning, I don’t mind running on my record if everybody else that’s running against me doesn’t mind running on theirs.”
Those taking part included candidates for County Assessor, County Judge, Fayetteville Mayor and City Council.
