A Fort Worth, Texas, man who went missing while hiking in Arkansas was found dehydrated, but alive, over the weekend, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Thirty-eight-year-old Joshua McClatchy was found late Friday, June 7, and was transported to an area hospital after being lost for six days.

A National Guard helicopter, with infrared technology, searched the Caney Creek Wilderness and spotted the hiker.  Caney Creek Wilderness is about 100 miles southwest of Little Rock, is 14,460 acres and is part of the Ouachita National Forest.

It took rescuers about an hour to reach McClatchy on the ground and hours to get him out of the area.
