Witnesses Take the Stand in Capital Murder Trial

A Washington County murder trial continues. Today was the second day of Samuel Hill’s trial.
Testimony began today in the capital murder trial. Samuel Hill is accused of killing his own father in 2014. He faces several charges.
The jury heard from the dispatcher who got the 911 call from Hill’s mom. They also heard from Hill’s father in law who investigators say he threatened to kill that night after killing his father.
Hill’s mother who was there when it all happened also testified today. Her testimony will be very important going forward. The defense already began disputing part of her story.
Last, the jury heard from the lead investigator in the case and watched a video of Hill being interviewed by that investigator in 2014.
In the video we saw in court today when Hill was told his dad died on the way to the hospital and he’d be facing capital murder he sobbed and then responded “I killed my dad?”
The defense says Hill doesn’t remember everything that night just bits and pieces. They tried to reduce the capital murder charge today. That motion was denied. The trial is scheduled until Friday but could wrap up quicker.
