‘Tis the Season for Head Lice

There are “seasons” and “months” for lice, which include the months of January and February, according to Lice Clinics of America Director Jessie Foley.

Head lice is an ongoing problem within communities, especially during the holidays, said Foley.

The primary way you can get head lice is when your head comes in direct contact with the head of an infested individual, according to the Lice Clincis of America website.

Head-to-head contact like that doesn’t always guarantee lice, but there is a good chance.

If your hair does come into contact with lice, it doesn’t take much for a louse to hitch a ride on a strand of your hair.

Head lice can live for around 40-45 days on your head, and if lice is removed from your hair, the bug can survive 24-48 hours, the website states.

Lice Clinics of America has two locations, one in Lowell Arkansas, and Tulsa Oklahoma.

The Lowell location opened in May of 2018.
