Chilirhea is a growing event where people from all around bring their best chili to Northwest, Arkansas.
This year the event was the Washington County Fairgrounds to be judged.
Chilirhea’s proceeds go towards research, education, and advocacy to end Alzheimer’s disease.
‘[Chilirhea] started in one of my best friends backyards,” Assistant Executive Director for Chilirhea, Tim Stidham said. “When he saw 200 people in his back yard he said ‘ we gotta figure out a way to do something for this.’ Alzheimer’s had affected his family so they wanted to start raising money.”
Those behind the event said this year pushed them over $1.5 donated to the Arkansas Alzheimer’s Association.
According to Chilirhea’s website, it is the fastest growing charity in NWA.
