The Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families hosted their 18th annual Soup Sunday event showcasing over 30 different soups, breads and desserts from restaurants throughout northwest Arkansas.
But the event isn’t all about getting stuffed on samples.
Laura Kellams, NWA Director of the AACF, says by locals coming together for Soup Sunday, Arkansas advocates are able to help stand up for children and families rights in the natural state.
“That means we can be at the legislature in committee rooms and testifying on bills for things like pre-k and after-school programs and health insurance for children. We want to make sure and this is the kind of event that helps us do that,” Kellams says.
The winner of this year’s Soup Sunday best was the Preacher’s Son in Bentonville, with their Fat Top Farms mushroom soup with sunchokes and Oregon black truffle.
