2 Killed in Plane Crash Were Ark. National Guardsmen

CAMDEN, Ark. (KARK) — The Arkansas National Guard (ANG) has released the names of two guardsmen killed in the Sunday evening crash of a small plane at Camden.

They are identified as CW2 Rufus Ferron Brown, 42, of Arkadelphia and CW2 Justin Levon Ashley, 31, of North Little Rock.

The ANG says Brown was an UH-60 helicopter maintenance test pilot with the Bravo Company 2-285th Aviation Helicopter Assault Regiment based at Camp Robinson. Ashley was an UH-60 helicopter pilot with the same unit.

Both service members were pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita County Coroner. The ANG says they were both off duty and not performing in a military capacity.

There is an ongoing investigation to look into the cause of the crash.
