2016 Block Street Block Party

Fayetteville drawing in folks from across Northwest Arkansas for the 2016 Block Street Block Party.
The annual Block Street Block Party in Fayetteville brings out hundreds, and from the vendors and the food trucks, to the rock walls and bouncy houses, there’s a little something for everyone, even the chance to strut your stuff for a good cause.
“We just love the sense of community in Fayetteville, so we’re just having an awesome time,” Rachel Billingsley Fayetteville Resident said.
Friends, families and fur babies, walked and shopped Block Street Sunday.
“They just have awesome stuff for the kids this year, and they’ve grown on it every year.”
Long time Fayetteville residents said it’s a great way to get out of the house, and enjoy the community.
The girls have already done the rock wall and the pony rides and the food is fantastic.”
One off the wall attraction though, the first annual high heel race.
“The challenges are definitely watching out for the bricks.”
About 30 people took to the  starting line in their highest heels. Some also in costume, others came ready to race.
“People were in their running stuff you knew they were athletes they had stilettos on it was fantastic. I loved it.”
At the sound of the horn, they took off running and walking, then
racers went up two block and then strutted back to the starting line.
“Thankfully no broken ankles this year.”
Event’s organizers and locals agree Fayetteville  is the perfect place for this quirky race.
“One thing we like about our town is it just does some really funny crazy things.”
“Today was just about having something fun and silly and coming out to support a really great cause.”
Proceeds from the high heel race go to the Magdalene House, which gives women in our community a leg up as they’re coming out of bad situations, like sex-trafficking and jail.
