Deaths within the homeless community sometimes go unnoticed.
The staff at 7Hills gathered with homeless clients to remember the 79 people who passed from their community since 2000.
Just a few weeks ago, one of the shelter’s clients was found burned to death near the shelter. 7Hills said this is a growing problem in Northwest Arkansas.
“This was really a time to come together as people, and grieve and heal and work through,” said Billy Rader, CEO of 7Hills. “It’s really tough to be at the bottom rung of the ladder and have your friend die in the woods.”
The center believes the community needs to become more aware of the 3,000 homeless living in Fayetteville.
