A Detention Officer Accused of Providing Cell Phone to Inmate

A Washington County Detention Officer is in a jail cell as of Friday afternoon, after getting arrested for providing a cell phone and batteries to an inmate, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The contraband items were found during the search of an inmate’s bunk on December 26, according to the report.

Authorities determined that one of their employees, Dylan Simpson, 21, who had been with the department for eight months, was the person who provided the phone and batteries.

Officials said that Simpson admitted to the that he brought in the items on two different dates while the inmate was incarcerated.

Simpson was arrested for furnishing prohibited items, a felony.  He’s at the Washington County Detention Center held on no bond.
